Attorney General Bondi Sues Nationwide Pools for Alleged Deceptive and Unfair Practices

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Attorney General Pam Bondi today announced that her office has sued Nationwide Pools, Inc. and its owner Keith Stuart, alleging that the company has violated Florida’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The lawsuit alleges that Nationwide Pools, Inc. used a variety of false and deceptive marketing practices related to the sale and construction of pools. These alleged practices include failing to pay subcontractors which caused liens to be placed on consumers' homes, making misrepresentations relating to pool financing, charging illegal credit card fees, making misrepresentations regarding manufacturer rebates and warranties, and failing to complete construction of pools.

"Floridians should be able to trust the companies they do business with, and they should receive the services advertised or promised, " stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. "We will continue to protect Florida's consumers by enforcing Florida's Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act."

The lawsuit seeks consumer restitution and permanent injunctive relief banning the company and its owners and managers from future pool construction. Consumers can report fraudulent activity by calling the Attorney General’s fraud hotline at 1-866-9-NO-SCAM (1-866-966-7226), or by filing a complaint online at MyFloridaLegal.com.

Thinking that the pool, tennis courts, sauna and other facilites are part of their rent. Wrong, they are called amenities and are facilities provided by the management. The rent is strictly for the living space.
The management will have rules for every amenity and it's use. Nationwide, pools are restricted by age. Typically children under 14-16 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian over 18. Loud and disturbing behavior may be strictly governed by the management to protect the property as a whole.
