Metro Parks NewsroomMetro Parks Summer Pools to Open for Memorial Day Weekend Thursday May 23, 2013 Memorial Day weekend signifies that summer is near, and Metro Parks is doing its part to mark the occasion by opening its four outdoor summer swimming pools for the holiday weekend. The city’s free spraygrounds and spraypads are already running and ready for use. The regular summer season for outdoor pools begins June 8, after schools are recessed for summer break.
Standard pool hours are daily from 1 to 6 p.m. (Norton pool hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily). All outdoor pools close one day a week for maintenance. Admission is $2 for children 17 and under, and $3 for adults 18 and over. Photo identification is required for anyone age 9 or older; children 8 or under must be accompanied by a guardian with photo identification. Metro Parks can make identification cards for children who need them for $4 per card; call (502) 897-9949 for details.
Pool patrons may bring their own picnic supplies, although large coolers, glass containers and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Metro Parks reserves the right to inspect small coolers. To provide a healthy swimming environment, all pools are smoke-free. Every pool features lifeguards that are certified in CPR and First Aid.
Additionally, the indoor Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center – at 201 Reservoir Road in Crescent Hill Park – is open six days a week, year-round. It’s closed on Sundays and major holidays.
For information on sprayground and spraypad locations, visit Spraygrounds are modern water playgrounds with a variety of spray elements; spraypads are converted wading pools, typically with a single obelisk that sprays water.

Tonight's Keats - for Locanther2006-06-05 17:27:59 by laiadevorah
I remember,I remember
The roses, red and white
The violets and the lily cups,
Those flowers made of light!
The lilacs where the robin built,
And where my brother set
The laburnum on his birthday
The tree is living yet!
I remember, I remember
Where I was used to swing,
And thought the air must rush as fresh
To swallows on the wing;
My spirit flew in feathers then,
That is so heavy now,
And summer pools could hardly cool
The fever on my brow!
