Weekly Amazon Roundup ~ Kids Toys, Kindle Books, Music, Toilet Paper and More!

I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 12 years to my best friend. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". If you didn't know already - I'm a Heart Mom. Our oldest has a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He basically has half a heart. We even started a charity called Save Lives Save Money to help other heart families in their time of need. Where couponers give back to help pay for basic needs of families in need. I was raised on a small dairy farm. I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, and coupon shop, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch recipes and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet. You can follow our weekly Menu Plan to see how you can coupon and eat healthy at the same time! I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. From our Coupon Database, to our page to print coupons, our Couponing 101, our Freebies 101 - we like to call it a Thrifty Living Lifestyle. We post my weekly budget review so you can see exactly how far you can stretch a budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me. For more info see A Thrifty Mom in the Media. Those big plastic containers for kids toys

2009-05-31 14:09:03 by GarlicGrowerNewbie

The containers I'm thinking of will probably hold about 15-20 gallons of soil, and are pretty cheap ($5? $10?) in kid's departments of discount stores like Target or Walmart. They have white rope handles on both sides. Cut a few drainage holes with a box cutter or xacto knife in the bottom before you add the potting soil. The downsides are that they'll only last a few years when exposed to the elements - the plastic eventually becomes brittle and breaks easily - and they come only in bright primary colors, such as blue, green and red.
The anon who suggested plastic pails had a good idea too
