Pink poodle signMay 11th, 2009 by Paula Bray Neon signs have a special magic, particularly if they include graphics or animations. People remember with affection signs that they loved as children, and some neon signs have been given heritage status. The Skipping Girl Vinegar neon in Melbourne has been saved, but many others have not. Contributors to our Sign design in Australia Flickr group have recorded favourite neon signs, including some that no longer exist.
Artist Mala Gabrielle posted this photograph of the Pink Poodle sign on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Mala says, “It was my dream to one day work as a ‘secutary’ at this motel when I was 4 years old. I had a long running obsession with the Pink Poodle motel. When I was at art school it was a feature of quite a few of my works. I was lucky enough to go and stay there just before it was pulled down – it was certainly past its glory days. There were still many original features left. These included the moulded plastic poolside furniture and the beautiful poodle mosaic on the floor of the foyer, as well as a tropical garden. It is so sad to see the last of the Gold Coast motels from the 1950s and 60s being pulled down. I’m sure these buildings held so many happy memories for people. At least they retained the neon sign.”

^^^ That would make a great movie2007-07-06 21:19:10 by -title-
I recall someone here asking a long time ago, about what "furniture" to use, in order to conceal the implements of the B&D ------ and I provided the idea of buying a plastic (Rubbermaid Patio) storage bench, and spray-painting it wood-brown (Krylon FUSION paint is perfect for plastic).
or go with the nice Delahey bench (natural wood)
Has anyone else seen some good ways to hold 'cuffs & stuff' -- hidden in plain sight?
