“They’ll laugh at you, ” they said. “I don’t care, ” I said.
Remember how hot last summer was? I really wanted to spend some time outside, but felt like I was going to croak every time I stepped out of the door. So I bought myself a kiddie pool and plopped it on my deck and was able to enjoy the summer without dying of heat exhaustion.
The best part about those cheap little backyard kiddie pools is that you don’t necessarily have to be a little kid to enjoy them. In fact,I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they’re probably even more fun for adults than they are for kids.
I used my plastic kiddie pool with the colorful fishies on the bottom until it cracked and wore out and then replaced it with a pool that was a little bigger, which I promptly filled with rubber duckies because those are a must for fun:
Whether or not you have kids, you should seriously consider getting yourself a kiddie pool this summer and let the fun begin. Trust me.
Here are some things to do with a kiddie pool that aren’t for kids:
- Jell-O wrestling
- Oil wrestling
- Mud wrestling
- Giant cooler
- Giant punch bowl
- Belly flop contest
- Fill with water and just relax in it with a book
- Let the dog cool off

Soak the pots and soil.
Drain them till they are mostly done driping.
Take heavy plastic bags and set the pot in them - pull the top up to the base of the plant - loosly close with a twist tie or string. The key is Loose - not tight.
Put them in a bright - not direct sunlight spot and off you go.
The only thing you need to worry about is mold forming, but 6 weeks should be OK as long as the top allows for some venting, and they can still photosynthesize via the indirect, but bright light.
It's this, or get a kiddie-pool to put them in...
